Did you know depression is the leading cause of disability in the world? Still, this is a disorder people choose to minimize or characterize incorrectly. Another condition that is also stigmatized is anxiety. The World Health Organization (WHO) believes that 1 in 13 persons, worldwide, suffers from anxiety. People who live with depression and anxiety fight private intense battles every day, often several times a day.

If you’re one of those warriors, know you’re not the only person in the world who is often tormented and paralyzed by your emotions. I too am often my own worst emotion. Some days, the only thing that stops me from killing myself today is knowing that if I do, I might miss a better tomorrow.

If the thought of tomorrow isn’t enough to help you make it through the day, reach out to someone.
