The Media and Reputational Damage from a Data Breach

How will the media portray you after your organisation suffers a data breach?

You’ll be seen as a leader or a loser. Every business is vulnerable to cybercrime. Leaders are firms that take proactive steps to protect customers’ and partners’ private information and clearly show that. They stand out as positive examples, the hero of the story.

But discovering you were breached only when the media knocks on your door for an interview is too late. You’d risk:

  1. Fines for failing to report the breach: up to $1.8million for your business; and up to $360k personally for you and your fellow Directors. Would that ruin you?
  2. Reputational damage: in reactive mode you’ll be depicted as a loser in the media, the villain of the piece, and your reputation could be destroyed.
  3. Legacy issues: customers buy elsewhere; suppliers lose trust in you; profits turn to losses and your recovery could take years.

Warren Buffett said it best: “It takes 20 years to build a reputation and 5 minutes to destroy it”.

Data Breach Services

Here’s how you can protect your business with airpartners range of Data Breach Services suitable for all organisations

Step 1: Assess how prepared your business is for a data breach

Step 2: Understand the your options and upgrade defences against attacks

Step 3: Develop a response plan to remain in control and get a competitive edge over your rivals.

Step 4: Achieve complete peace of mind with comprehensive treatment from cybersecurity and legal perspectives.

You can try to ignore cybercrime, but it won’t ignore you. Be proactive, prepare now.
