When Australian school students graduate their final year of study, many of them head fortheir closest coastal holiday destination for a week long celebration known as SchooliesWeek. The best tourist hot spots in Australia typically close a huge portion of their usualaccommodation bookings, reserving them for the tens of thousands of Schoolies or Leaverswho take over the beach destinations, sometimes entirely. The timing of the end of the Australian school year for Leavers and Schoolies graduates ismid to late November, with variations based on the state they graduated in. In some casesthis results is students from the three main Australian states by population on the east coast(New South Wales, Victoria & Queensland) either all celebrating in the same week, or inweeks staggered one week after the other. Queensland has the most popular Schoolies destinations including the Gold Coast, theWhitsundays and the Sunshine Coast.
